The Department of Paediatrics

has two research programmes:

Paediatric epidemiology
The objective of this programme is to explore how genetic variants and environmental exposure lead to maternal gestational complications, foetal and childhood developmental adaptation mechanisms, and risk factors for common diseases. This life-course research is largely embedded in the Generation R Study.

Decision-making in emergency paediatrics
The objective of this research programme is a) to improve the clinical and diagnostic evaluation of febrile children and, b) to modify and validate triage for the paediatric population, aiming to determine the best management for acutely ill children.
