The Department of Dermatology
The Department of Dermatology carries out research in three clinical areas:
Skin cancer
The main objective of epidemiological studies on skin cancer is to study gender differences in melanoma survival and the risk of developing subsequent skin cancers. Also, researchers working on pharmaco-epidemiological studies investigate the prophylactic effects of different drug classes on the development of various skin cancers and in particular melanoma (progression).
Psoriasis
In this field, researchers study the association between psoriasis and comorbidities including cardiovascular events, depression and liver disease.
Varicose veins
Several large RCTs are performed comparing various treatments for varicose veins, such as endoveneous laser ablation, radiofrequency, foam sclerosis and surgical stripping.
