Detailed information about this course:

Description

Note: this is a required course for second year Research Master students. It is not available as an elective course nor open for enrolment for other students.

CK080 Core Competences Video is the final component of the core curriculum, due in the second year of your Research Master programme. Your assignment for this course is to create a video explaining one of the core competences that are also part of the Core Competences Exam (CK070), in relation to your own research project. Feel free to be as creative as possible with this assignment, as there are no specific guidelines about what the video should look like. The only requirement is that the video should be between 1 and 5 minutes long.

Before you start working on your video project, there are a couple of things to take into consideration: what topic you will be presenting, how it relates to your research project, and what your target audience will be.

When presenting information, different types of audiences require different approaches. Factors like background knowledge need to be taken into account when deciding how to explain topics. In order to practice this, you are asked to select a target audience: either your information is aimed at first year Health Sciences students, or a layman audience. You will be asked to indicate your target audience when submitting your video.

Objectives

The aim of this assignment is four-fold:

  • Show that you have a sufficient understanding of the topic in question;
  • Show that you are able to link the topic with real-life research application;
  • Show that you are able to present information in a way that is suitable for your audience;
  • Provide a learning resource for future students.
